Heather Ellis is a Melbourne-based journalist, travel writer and photographer From 1993 to 1997, Heather embarked on a four-year solo world motorcycle journey that took her through Africa, Europe, Central Asia, Siberia, China and Vietnam. On returning to her home town of Cairns, Qld Australia, Heather studied journalism graduating with a Bachelor of Journalism from James Cook University in 2000. She has worked as a cadet and as a journalist for three News Ltd newspapers: The Cairns Post, Port Douglas and Mosman Gazette, and Diamond Valley Leader . She has also worked as a staff writer for The Daily News in Harare, Zimbabwe. Her travel features have been published in magazines in Australia, United States, Britain and Europe. Many of these features were based on her travels by motorcycle. From her home at the foothills of the Yarra Ranges, Heather now conducts a freelance journalism business writing features on travel, social consciousness, life style, alternative health and motorcycling. She is also writing the final draft of her novel Awaken To Africa
